Without CEREC technology, these restorations normally require at least two office visits separated by two weeks or longer. CEREC combines computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) to quickly restore your smile with a customized, natural-looking restoration.

How Does CEREC Work?

All aspects of this procedure - from scanning to placement - are carried out during a single chairside treatment, immediately restoring health, beauty, and function to your smile.

Examination

During your appointment, our doctors will carefully examine your teeth. This will help them to diagnose any oral health issues that must be addressed before you receive your restoration. CEREC restorations can be made using silicate, oxide, or hybrid ceramics, which are innovative, durable, and aesthetically pleasing restorative materials. Your dentist will recommend a material depending on the type of restoration and its placement within your smile.

Digital Design

To create your customized restorations, we will take a digital impression of your teeth to make sure your new crown, small bridge, or porcelain veneers will properly align with your bite. Using advanced software, your doctor will create a virtual 3-D model from your scans, which features the precise size and structure of your future restoration.

Creating Your Restoration

Finally, the doctor will manufacture the restoration using an in-office milling machine, which sculpts the restorative material to match the virtual model. The milling machine is synchronized with CEREC software, creating an anatomical restoration that is precise, realistic, and durable.

Placement

Once constructed, the doctor may paint, polish, or glaze your restoration to add the finishing touches. Then, your restoration is ready to be placed.
