All-On-4, All-On-6, All-On-X
You’ve discussed it with your Harlem Center dentist, and you are getting dental implants. Congratulations! You are about to feel so much more comfortable when eating and confident in your smile.
Depending on how many teeth you’re missing and your overall oral health, you may need an All-On-4, All-On-6, or All-On-X procedure.
What are All-On-4, All-On-6, All-On-X?
All-On-4, All-On-6, or All-On-X are the implants used to replace your missing teeth if most or all of your teeth are missing. The numbers refer to the number of implants placed. All-On-4 uses four implants, All-On-6 uses six implants, etc. Once the implants are placed, then a dental bridge is connected. Generally speaking, the more implants, the more solid the anchorage for the dental bridge is.
Is one option better than another?
No. Every patient has different needs. We’ll discuss all options with you based on your current oral health, x-rays, etc.
Will All-on-4, All-on-6, and All-on-X help with bone loss?
Yes. Many people don’t know that their teeth serve another function other than biting and chewing. Your teeth help keep the bones in your jaw stable. Dental implants stimulate the jawbone in the same way that teeth do, which prevents the common ‘sunken jaw’ appearance of those who have worn dentures for a long time.
Am I a good candidate for All-On-4, All-On-6, and All-On-X?
Of course, each patient is different, and you will need to discuss if you’re a good candidate with your dentist. But, in general, those who have a significant amount of tooth decay, tooth loss, or periodontal (gum) disease are good candidates for All-On-4, All-On-6, or All-On-X. Ideal patients are non-smokers, avoid alcohol as much as possible, and have good oral hygiene habits.
